Bridget Catchpole creates small series work incorporating plastic under the title “Of A Thousand Uses”, a phrase once heralded to describe the multifarious material. After its invention 150 years ago, plastic has become a ubiquitous presence in the natural environment. She gathers and collects the overlooked andthe discarded,diverting this material and finding inspiration in its exploration.
She received her jewellery training at the Vancouver Jewellery Art and Design Program before moving to Montreal where she received her BFA in Studio Art at Concordia University. Her work has been featured in exhibitions, nationally and internationally. She is a recipient of Canada Council and British Columbia Arts Council grant awards.
