Her first exposure to metalsmithing was in 2008 in Taxco, Mexico. She later completed collegial studies at the École de joaillerie de Montreal in 2011 and she is presently finishing a BFA in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing at NSCAD University, Halifax.
Anne-Sophie’s interests in jewellery and body adornment took a significant step during her travels in Central America. Her fascination with foreign cultures and her inquisitiveness about traditions and meaning has lead her to discover through experiencing different ways of living, cultural notions of value and aesthetics.
She finds in working with the materials a way to reconcile wide open space and interior life, making portable objects that unsettle the viewer but resolve a need for communication. Her work acts as a metaphor for a place where reality and a new sense of meaning converge.
